Planning to get a used great condition zero-turn. What are some of the cheapest options for me to store it? I'm wondering if there are any better or similar options besides a homemade wooden shed.

Is 6x8 too small? I want bigger but want the cost to stay down. Also I would love metal and concrete floor, but again the costs. I was going to do a raised floor and use standard good materials, but treated wood instead of untreated. Also a ramp is necessary, right? Can the ramp be a simple piece of thick treated wood with a couple supports in the middle underneath?

Also for a trailer, while it's not ideal, I could use a plain old flatbed trailer with 2 wheels, couldn't I? I might go with a really cheap trailer so I have more money for the shed or garage.

Thanks.

Cheapest option for storage is to put it in the garage :)

There is never room in the garage for the cars. But our ZT is in the big barn.

I use an old 4'x8' aluminum pickup topper set on posts w/treated plywood sides to store my mowers! Toppers can be had pretty pretty cheap sometimes. ~~ grnspot

What is the length, width of you mower? Be sure to leave room to mount, dismount.

Why a ramp?

How big is the zero turn? width deck?

If its not too big, and since you mentioned a trailer, why not look for a good used 6x10 enclosed trailer. Kills two birds with one stone and will probabally be cheaper in the long run. Just store it inside the trailer when not in use.

I think LD1 is on to something!
If that does not work for you watch auctions and ad papers for used sheds.
We bought a used 12x8 with a wooden floor in good shape for $400 and a 8x8 also for $400 - just need to be able to transport it which really is fairly easy.
Good luck

Probably so. I just have a little 32" single blade Toro ZTR. I wanted this size because I can get through 3' wide gates, but if the bagger is on it, it won't go through a 4' gate or door. Of course, I have lots of room for my other lawn and garden tools in my 8' x 12' metal shed, but I have to have the bagger off to drive the ZTR in through the 4' door.

No garage. No barn :( No shed or trailer, yet.

Cool idea. Maybe could be secure enough (against theft, storm winds, animals, etc).

I don't have one yet, it will depend on what deal I find. I don't have a lot of money so it will probably be a smaller one but smaller isn't always cheaper.

I thought a ramp is needed to get it into the shed. Oh yeah, duh, the mower shed could have a dirt floor or gravel...

Hm. I was thinking of an enclosed trailer anyway for other reasons, but most of them seem hard to load compared to those trailers made for mowers with the ramp gates. I don't think I've seen enclosed ones that came with ramps. (Looking at used ones.) Get a $200 ramp?

Thanks, how did you transport, you had to have a trailer at least 12x8?

Have a 18' flatbed trailer that I towed behind my Tundra (2 trips), the hard part was making sure we cleared all the power lines and such!

You can pour a slab for less money than what a wooden platform would cost.
