got saw from freind hasnt ran good for a couple of years .got tired starting it. its been to a couple of repair shops. its had 2 carb kits put in it .i just put a kit in it . took carb apart 2 times and cleaned it. tank vent is venting

mine had a similar problem. If it has compression it will run

One of my saws had a stopped up exhaust - a screen is in place just behind the muffler (could be stopped up with carbon)

the other had a no fuel issue (spark plug was dry) - cost of new carb was around 40bucks (5 dollars more than carb kit)

Check the fuel line for cracks. If its OK, the saw needs to be pressure tested to check for leaking seals or gaskets. This may not be something you can do yourself, as specialized tools are needed.

There should be a in tank filter that could be plugged up. Use a piece of wire bent into a hook to retrieve it. Replace it with the correct part, different saws take different filters.
In addition, verify compression, spark and fuel delivery. Stop rebuilding the carb; it obviously isn't the issue.
Describe further what is occurring when you try to start it.

I think that may be my little limb saw. Had nothing but trouble with it. Bascally got so pissed off from taking it in, only to get it back just as fricked up, that I just put in on a shelf for many years.

Recently revisited that matter. Tried to get a carb but was told it was obsolete and wasn't sure that would be money well spent anyway Asked a couple of friends in the business to watch out for a junk saw and after a couple of years got lucky. Got a working saw that had a burned piston. Put in that carb with a bit of modificaion required and still nothing. Found a rotted fuel line. That saw seems to work and idle now, for the first time since almost new. I have not used it for a few months, but am keeping my fingers crossed that it starts, idles and cuts in the spring.

it will run at higher rpm even at fast idle . idle it down so chain stops it will kill .exhaust screen is clean.manual troubleshooting says small plastic plate in valve jet does not close .remedy clean or renew valve jet. any body no what this is and where is it. will check compression any body no what it sould be

check compression with 2 gauges 2 got 125 and 150
