Mahindra 4110
Hi! First I want to thank everybody for all the great info I've read in the TBN postings while shopping for my new tractor. Now that I've finally decided on the Mahindra 4110 (it was delivered yesterday, OH BOY a New Toy /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif )I've only got 4hrs seat time but I noticed when I got it the "M" on the steering wheel was right side up with the wheels straight but at the end of the day the "M" is now upside down. I'm not familiar with this type of power steering so is this normal or should I be concerned? Thanks spike42

Spike42, my 7520 does the same thing. I think that it is normal with the Mahindra tractors. Maybe a dealer will read this and let us know for sure. If you hadn't noticed, when your front tires are turned all the way, the steering wheel will keep turning. that is how the M ends up sideways or upside down. Aren't these tractors awsome? Good luck with your new toy, uh, machine. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The 4110 has hydrostatic power steering.
That is normal for machines with this type power steering.

THANKS guys, for this question & answers!

This is the only thing that's been mildly bugging me about our new tractor. I have put almost 14 hrs on since it arrived a week ago, and this is one very capable machine.

I broke the pin off that holds the the tilt positon on the steering wheel and had to weld it back on.

It will took me back a little when I took the cowl off around the wheel and realized that all thats attached to the steering wheel is four hydraulic hoses.

I never gave it much thought when they say hydrostatic steering .It is just hydraulic fluid turning the front tires

My new Case D35 does the same thing.

My late father-in-law's Case 430 (about a 1967 model) is the same way. The steering wheels are attached to hydraulic valves, no steering gears.

This is the way tractors with hydrostatic steering are(all brands), there is no mechanical linkage between the steering wheel and the front wheels, it hydraulic fluid connecting the two. With the tractor turned off you can re-center the steering wheel yourself by turning the steering wheel.
