I have TC-35D witch has a starting problem, when you turn the key switch it just click. Now on cool days it will start on hot days it won't,after it warms up you shut it off won't start even with a jump from a truck but if you put a battery charger on it will start.I have a rebuilt starter and a new battery pus I added some extra ground wire from frame to engine. I moved fuses around and check my safety switches. Not sure how to check the Ignition switch.Does anybody have this problem or the answer.

Thanks

Battery Load testers are cheap. Try attaching one at the starter and see if your battery, cables and connections are really any good.

You should eliminate some of the basics.

Remove the ground cable from the engine and clean the mating surfaces until polished.

Buy a ground cable with an eye end at both ends. Attach one end to where the ground cable attaches to the engine and the other end to a starter mounting bolt.
This is done to eliminate any issues with the starter grounding to the engine block. Sometimes, the mating surfaces between the starter and engine get rusty and make poor contact preventing the starter from working.

Do you know how to jump the starter? Doing so will either confirm or eliminate the starter as the problem. Jumping the starter bypasses any safety devices so needs to be done with great caution as you can get yourself run over. Best to have someone on the tractor w.ith the brakes applied

If you are not certain how to jump the starter, ask.

How many people have not gotten anywhere, by simply replacing components of the starting system? You need to make TESTS, before touching anything.

How many HOURS did I waste last week!! ... load testing... replacing battery (unknown age)... replacing starter (it was only 135 bucks)... trying to remove the dang steering wheel to get to the ignition switch wiring (failed) ...

... before I figured out that the battery's ground wire went to a spot on the edge of the friggin radiator for Pete's sake!

My 14-year old son was present so I didn't cuss much... moved that stupid ground connection to an alternator mounting bolt and she fired right up.

I've had the tractor for years with never a starting issue... but then she decided suddenly that ground spot was not good, THAT DAY when I really needed her to work to unload a truck. Huh!

At least I have a new battery and starter, so I know how old they are.

And at second least... I'll never forget to check for that again!
