I have a JCB Dumper, with a 13Hp engine.
I`m having some starting issues on this, and I`m woundering if it coud be the hydraulic pump?
Its hard to turn the moter with the pull start (Really hard!)
And the starter is struggeling aswell.

Do anyone know if the pump is suposed to be engaged the whole time, or after its started and "revved" up?

Is there a clutch on the engine?

Is the hyd valve in neutral.

No, I dont think there is a cluch.
The valves should be in neutral. It looks like the hydraulic pump is pumping straight to return.

So, you are saying the pump is direct coupled.

If control valve is in neutral and pumping straight to tank, then there should not be that much load on the engine.

Remove the pump from the engine and see if the engine runs normally.

You might also run the pump outlet into a bucket and see if the valve is hanging up or causing a restriction.

Some of our Power-Tracs start with three pumps turning with the valves in neutral.

Now the new starter is fried, just like the old one.

I didnt have this JCB from it were new, so I dont know how the original starter were.
But I get the feeling the "original" starter is abit to weak. (At least if the engine is supposed to turn over so hard)

Before I fried the starter, I`ve tried alot of different things. I`ve tried with extra cables from anotheer battery, a new battery, charger, help starter.
Sometimes (very rearly) it starts very easy, but most of the times it struggled to start. It would use a second or so to turn the engine over, and give it enough juice to turn over repeatedly.

Its not very easy to start manualy eighter. I havent tried to start a 13Hp Honda before, so I dont have anything to compare it to.

But my main thought right now, is if the starter might be to weak. Or if something is wrong with the pump, making it harder to turn over..
