New Holland TC35D
Looking for suggestions. I was hooking up a brush hog today. Had been running tractor about an hour with no issues. shut it off to hook up and now, no start. I've got good battery. It shows no draw when I turn the key, so power is not getting to the starter at all. My best guess is that its either in the key switch, or a relay or breaker somewhere. Just starting to look so nothing is eliminated. I checked the pressure switch under the seat and I'd guess there may be some more lock outs, like don't start when in gear or with mower deck (pto) engaged, but frankly I'm not certain which would be the best starting place.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
thanks

There's a list of things to check buy the one I'm most likely to forget is to depress the clutch. If I'm depressing the HST pedal I won't get any starter action, either. Beyond that of course is are the seat switch and PTO switch. Some tractors may require gear selector placed into neutral or the brake being depressed. Beyond that I'd have to start troubleshooting.

thanks Roadworthy. Any idea where the PTO switch is located? I'm still struggling. I eliminated the seat switch and the ignition switch. Need to find the others.
thanks

Start with the fuse box. There is a 10amp blade fuse that likes to blow. (Second from the top on my tc33).

Then verify the shifter is in neutral, pto(s) are off, parking brake is set. Sometimes I need to wiggle the shifter to find the right spot for the safety switch.

I've not dealt with a New Holland tractor so I can't do specifics. Your PTO switch would probably be located on something that moves, usually the engagement lever or any associated linkage. The other switches would be similarly located. Magnetic or proximity switches are possible but unlikely on a tractor. You may have to inquire at the dealer.

Ahhh. Out brush cutting and then it would not crank. First, I would look for twigs hitting a safety switch...like behind the left rear tire. That is where the switches are for the gear/pto levers are. Then take a look under the tractor where the linkages are.

I don't think he was out brush hogging if I'm reading this correctly....
Looking for suggestions. I was hooking up a brush hog today. Had been running tractor about an hour with no issues. shut it off to hook up and now, no start.

Couple of things to check:

First Note:
On a NH TC35D (40 & 45), when any one of these 3 things occurs, fuse #2 blows, or the neutral safety or PTO safety circuits are open the starter motor will not crank; so these are what I would check first.

1st Check: Fuse #2
Is your PTO Dash Light lit-up with the key on & the PTO lever in the off position? If so, then 99% chance fuse #2 is blown. as @Hughman mentioned..
When Fuse #2 blows the PTO light will come on and stay on regardless of where the handle is.
If the PTO light is on, as stated above, replace Fuse #2 - it is under the instrument cluster - 2nd fuse from the left (7.5amp)

2nd Check: PTO is Not Engaged or PTO safety switch out of adjustment or Bad Switch
Make sure the PTO lever is in the OFF Position
PTO safety switch is on the left side it's up high in the front of the rear fender well. You can see the switch by moving the PTO lever & watching the linkage, make sure it is aligned correctly
You can bypass the switch to testing, by jumping across the leads.

3rd Check: Neutral Safety Switch
The neutral safety switch is on the left side of the transmission housing, you can get to it by looking under the platform. It is a round cylinder that has a Hex head base with 2 wire leads that have bullet quick connectors on them. You can bypass the switch to testing, by jumping across the leads.

If none of the above resolve the issue then, I can give a few thing to check from there... but this is where I would start...

Also on these NH tractors the seat switch & parking brake circuit will NOT stop the engine from turning over / cranking; it will still turn over the starter & the engine, but tractor will NOT start. This is because they shut off power to the fuel solenoid. You would have a cranking engine with a no start situation if it was the seat switch or parking brake circuit. so I think you can rule those out.
