I've split a few tractors before, but have a question on this Massey 65. Can it be split behind the transmission (red circle in the picture) instead of the normal split point at the clutch (blue circle)? Or do I need to first split it at the clutch and then unbolt something inside to take the transmission off?
I bought the tractor and the guy said the shear tube had sheared. Took the side cover off and the tube wasn't sheared but the cotter pin had come out and the tube was loose. I couldn't get the tube far enough back to line the cotter pin up. Took the top seat cover off and realized that the pinion shaft had slid forward from the read end towards the transmission. So I need to unbolt that flange around the pinion shaft bearing to be able to get it back into place. I've never torn one of these apart so if anyone has any info or tips please share. Here's a picture looking from the top with the seat cover removed.
