I have a 4310 on order. I plan on doing dirt work and lots of mowing. My place is very hillly. I didn't order these two options, should I? I really don''t think I need the cruise upgrade, but speedmatch, maybe. Course you have to get the cruise control to get speedmatch...
Are these user installable? (wiring is my thing..)

I've got a 4710 - that I use for brush-hogging and driveway grading etc. I ordered "all the bells & whistles" - including the "auto style cruise control" and the speedmatch. So far I've used the cruise control a bunch - and I'm very happy I got it. It is great for box blading and plowing. I haven't used the speedmatch much yet - but I'll soon start using a tiller and my brush-hog more - and I suspect I'll like the speedmatch for those applications.

I don't know if you can 'retrofit" the cruise - but if you can I'd do it...

Don't know what speed match is, but I sure use my cruise. When I bought my tractor the dealer used it as a selling pitch. About alls I could say to myself was, "who in the heck would use speed control on a tractor?". Yep you guessed it, I use it all the time. I am assuming that speed match is something that automatically adjusts the speed of the tractor to the load?? Help me out there.

Speedmatch lets you adjust the hydro pedals action. Press the pedal part way, depress the switch. Now the full travel of the pedal will be only that rate (at the point chosen) Keeps you from going into too high a rate, say in close quarters doing loader work. Seems to me, that MIGHT be handy.

I know the basic cruise control will be nice, but not sure I'd use the upgrades. But if I can't get it later, maybe get it in during prep.

Like office phone systems laden with so many features, who can work them all? But each feature is a must have to someone...

I guess based on what you say the cruise control would be the most I would go. Speed match would be nice in certain tasks but for me the cruise would be enough. Like you said some of these options just go to far and you end up not using them.

I agree, the standard "cruise control", a misnomer in my opinion, is enough for me- it locks in the hydro setting, giving your foot a rest. Besides, I have plans for the two blank spaces on the fender- namely for switches for rear lights and rotating amber.

I double checked the 4000TEN lit, and it says that SpeedMatch give you a creeper function, great for stall work, etc. So it might be pretty handy.

Are there swiches availabe that fit there for accessories? i am sure just about any style could fit, but matching ones would be nice...

I spoke about this in a post sometime back. My local Deere dealer agreed that the cruise control was desireable and loadmatch, speedmatch and motionmatch were unnecessary. I can understand that because once you become familiar with HST, the electronic assit that these 3 options offer is less needed or used. I tried it and found I want everything on fast. The loadmatch was not a factor as I was so accustom to HST that as the engine loaded, I simply backed off instinctively on the pedal. Speedmatch was the same thing, I never felt the need to have more pedal control or greater pedal travel with less influence on the speed. The motion match, I just wanted it on fast. Try them after you get accustom to the HST on your 4310, your attitude may differ from my findings. Anyway you look at it, the HST is going to be a real treat. Rat...

I got both these upgrades when I purchased my 4310. The dealer said I was the first to ask for them. He ordered the parts and said it was on him. I use the upgraded cruise a lot for mowing. When I come to the end of a pass I put my foot on the forward petal and tap the break and take control back over. If you don't put you foot on the forward petal the tractor stops and scuffs the turf. Once I turn around I hit resume and I'm back at my set speed. You need to reset you speed with the standard cruise. You can also increase or decrease the speed while on cruise with the update. I like it a lot.

I have not found as much use for the speedmatch. I have been using it while going over some uneven ground. I found the uneven ground caused my foot to press down at times on the forward petal. I sometimes got a speed increase I wasn't asking for. I set the speedmatch and it solved that. Maybe tilling would be an applications for that. As mentioned using a loader in tight spaces is another.

I don't think these upgrades cost all that much. Total was around 100 dollars for both when I priced them but the dealer added them anyway.

i have it on my 4310 that just arrived,it was a 100.00 upgrade that the dealer installed not the factory.i think the speed match will be good for loader work where you can set max speed and just push the pedals all the way down to go back and forth with out really thinking about your speed because you have max pre set,i don't know if i will use it but for 100.00 more i said why not,it will be there if i need or want it.
