Where do you guys come up with the specs for PT? The website has no real info. Do I need to call and have them send me something? Also, where do you get schematics (electrical and plumbing). As PT wants you to do your own repairs, just wondering how supported we are on this subject (from what I have read, not very).

Finally, If a wheel lifts off the ground, does it spin wildly, and do you loose power to your other wheels as pressure is being sent to that free-wheel?

From my experiences so far, is some of the specs you get from their website. Their electrical and hydraulic diagrams are in the user manual. Take those, make copies and actually trace and take measurements with a multimeter and hydraulic guages to see if it's accurate or not. as you see in a recent post (adding 1430 wheel motors to a 425). they do some modifications and not everything is standard on any given model over different years. Hope this helps.

On the wheel spin:

No, if one wheel lifts into the air it doesn't spin as it's in series (hydraulically) with the other motor on that side.

Pretty hard to lift a wheel too since the machine articulates and twists in the middle. But IF you get one in the air it is no problem whatsoever.

About the only time I ever have a wheel off the ground is when I am scraping a ball diamond by backdragging my bucket cutting edge. I lift both front tires off the ground a couple inches and drive backwards. The front tires will spin a little bit faster than the rears, but not much. The unit just walks backwards if there is sufficient traction.

In normal, every day operation, it is very, very rare for me to get even one wheel off the ground since the unit oscillates and articulates between the front and rear half. In order for one wheel to get off the ground, there would have to be a greater than 12 degree side angle difference between the plane of the front tires and the plane of the rear tires. Since the wheelbase is only 48" on mine, that would be a tremendous dip. A large hole would probably be the only thing I could think of to do that. Maybe greater than 16-18" deep with a very steep drop-off, like a square hole... probably something you could easily see and avoid.

The one time I had a rear wheel off the ground I was too busy falling out of the cab and hanging on for dear life to notice if the wheel was spinning:eek: I'll try to look the next time.

One does tend to put oneself in awkward positions with this machine.

Call PT for a manual. Mine cost $25 2 years ago for the 425. It has schematics (electrical & hydraulic) and parts breakdown.

The way it works if a wheel slips, the wheel in the diagonally opposite corner actually gets more torque applied to it. Good system. I have driven with the front wheels off the ground and could keep on going. The spike aerator will allow this. The bucket also.

PT is very good with telephone support and will stay on line with you as long as you need help. They are the factory experts and know the machines.
