Specs for New Holland 488 haybine lift cylinder

Just bought a used NH 488 haybine. It did not come with the lift cylinder or hose. Figured I can pick those up pretty reasonable at AgriSupply or TSC, but I can't find the cylinder diameter and the cylinder length retracted and extended (stroke). NH parts website lists the cylinder part numbers but they don't provide the details needed to pick out the generic cylinder at AgriSupply or elsewhere.

Somewhere along the way I saw that the same lift kit worked on the 492 and 1465 haybines.

Anyone know off-hand what the standard lift-cylinder size and stroke is on the NH 488 haybine??

ASAE 3"x8" cylinder will do the job when fed by a tractor making a minimum of 2000 PSI.

I use the smallest cylinders that TSC sells for both header lift and tongue swing, but in your case, that will also depend on how much hydraulic pressure your tractor has. I run both cylinders off of the front loader connectors. Use the length of the lift safety link as a guide for lift cylinder needs.

Tongue swing is extremely useful for transport and for adjusting the right mower edge near a fence line. The header is actually pretty light because the float springs are always engaged. It only needs a 1-way cylinder. You can make one up using your 3 pt lift with a second cylinder if you only have 1 outlet. The tongue swing takes more oomph from a 2-way but is still managed with a small cylinder. ( I have 2000+psi available on my JD1070).
