I am getting ready to start on the second part of my pasture. The first part I did several years ago but used fence posts and slats. For this next part I want to do T posts mainly for the cost. I am running a 4000v box on 3 wires currently. I plan on running 4 wires with just the t posts. Using wood posts concreated in, in the corners how far can I space the T posts out???

Thanks
Wade

We are using four rows of the inch and a half electrified tape and have the posts spaced every ten feet. Depending on your ground conditions you can do yourself a favor and get a helper, have him line up the post and get it started, then use the bucket on your loader to push the posts into the ground. Go slow and adjust the angle of your bucket so it stays flush with the top of the post. Cut a 1 x 2 as a story stick to set your heights.
Good luck

I think you could go 20 - 30 feet apart if you wanted to conserve.

ditto that.

my first t post fence I put in on my prop I had more money and time and better shoulders. I did 10' spacing.

last one I put in must have been 25-30' :)

havn't lost any cows yet!

Edit: Didn't realize you were using an electric fence, we usually run posts at 10ft but for an electric fence where the horses will not be putting any pressure on the fence I would think you could go farther than 10ft.

I'd go 16' at the least, probably more like 20'.

I must say though I would not concrete any posts unless you couldn't get the holes deep enough to hold them otherwise.

H braces would be my choice vs 'crete

If you are doing smooth wire/rope, I would do 20-30 ft.

If it is tape, no more than 16-20 ft--the tape flaps in the wind otherwise, no matter how tight you get it.

Thanks all!! I am using smooth wire not tape. Tightened at the ends with ratchets. Now for the next dumb question. How do I build an "H brace". I have seen them but not sure 1. how to do it and to how to create the "X" between the posts with wire and tighten it up.

Thank you all for the input!
