Kubota L3710
My Kubota L3710 no longer shuts down when I turn the ignition...or whatever it would be called on a diesel...off. I read that the most likely cause is a dead solenoid. The fuse that runs to it is okay.

I want to fix it myself. I can't get my tractor to a dealer unless I pay someone to haul it, and I am not anxious to pay a mechanic for what should be a quick and simple job.

I have noticed that it's hard to find Kubota products online. It seems like they expect you to go to a dealer every time you need something. That scares me.

Is it possible to get Kubota parts without getting hammered on price? Is there an online source I should know about?

SP, hope you're OK with ordering on line from a dealer (that's the link). You can get some aftermarket parts for your tractor. Often times they almost work! I'd suggest buying quality parts and keep your tractor running like when it was new, and have less frustration.

Yup. Messik's is great!

I've written before - Called them up for some part not to long after I bought my used B7610 in '09. The salesperson quoted me the Kubota part I needed and I cringed at the price. Then he told me of a generic part that was identical and less than a third of the price.
Plus they are quick to ship.

I've picked up a couple of those over the past years for a friend of mine at my local dealer. His is a B series but he's replaced the solenoid a couple times. I would order from Messick's if my dealer was not convenient.

The solenoid is de-energized when the key is off meaning no current is passing through it from the battery. Turning the key to on puts current through the solenoid, thus energizing it, allowing fuel to flow. If you turn the key off you are attempting to cease current from flowing and expecting the fuel flow valve to open.

Apparently you have one of two things: The valve is stuck in the closed position (mechanical malfunction internally), or the key switch contacts are contaminated allowing power to be applied when the switch is off.

Depending on your wiring, if the fuse is between the switch and the solenoid, pulling the fuse would identify the problem as being the solenoid, or the switch....if it stays on with the fuse pulled it's the solenoid.

Since Turbys_1700 said what he said, it may be a common problem.

yeah, we have to pay for all of Neil's wonderful videos...just kidding.
I just wish Messick's was closer, what a pleasure talking with people who actually are experienced and knowledgeable.

I'm not a mechanic so I need my local Kubota dealer and buy parts there fairly regularly to keep the relationship solid.
Often the parts guy knows what is broken, heck they have to supply their own shop so they know what parts move.
Then you get this nice air filter put in front of you and it says 78 bucks and you start getting dizzy....:D

sounds like a solenoid that might not have been spec'd heavy duty enough, like those stupid capacitors in our hvac systems
that always seem to blow on the hottest possible day. Since the trucks carry a bunch of them, that tells me something...

get the part number, Google it for a sanity check, and if Messick's is in line, or only a little higher, they definitely earn your business.
I don't use Ebay at all but if OP does, sometimes you can get super discounts. I do worry that the cheap Ebay oem filters came out of a box
in Louisiana after Katrina...
