Purchased two 12" fans off ebay for $34 and free shipping. Look just like the original, except two of the four mounting holes don't match up.

Fan is not coming on after running hydraulics for a while. There is a oil cooler thermal relay in the manual. How do you check to see if that is working properly? Is that a common part or something I need to go through PT to get?

Thanks

First, make sure the fan works with 12V across it.
If fan works, then,
Suspect the fuse for the fan.
If fuse good, then,
Suspect the thermal relay.
Put a meter on it. It should be open when cold.
Run up the tractor for 20-30 minutes and put a meter on it again. If its still open, its probably bad.

Mine went bad about 5 years into ownership. I just bypassed it and hook the fan to 12V directly each time I run the unit. Someday I'll repair it, maybe.

Put a hair dryer or heat gun on the thermal switch.

Mine is bad right now and I just bypassed it until I can look at it. A few years ago when it was "bad", it was just corroded contacts and worked fine when I cleaned it up.

I'd bypass the thermal switch first, but other than that, I agree with MR.
They are a very standard part and they do wear out, especially if they are used without a relay to handle the switching load.

All the best,

Peter
