As I mentioned in another post, I took out the 4 curl pins on my 2538 FEL and cleaned them of caked dirt, which was clogging the grease access hole to the outside of the pin, from the center.

Anyway...I managed to not tighten all of the shear pins on the inside of the super structure for the FEL, and consequently, I've lost 1 of the curl pins.

Any of you guys have a source, other than our dealer network, to get these pins. Mine are 1" diameter, x 4" long, with the zerk in the end, and drilled for shear bolt on the other end. (of course you guys are smarter than me, and probably never lost one. Wait til you get old...)

I've tried ebay, Amazon, Agri-supply, TS, auto stores, but no joy.

I can't wait to see what the dealer is going to charge me for one of these...

duffer - from your other post. Have you figured out why dirt was plugging the grease channels in those pins??

BTW - about 15 years ago I got fed up with loosing critical parts in my lawn grass when doing repairs on the tractor and implements. If I was going to loose a part - it would ALWAYS be the part that I had to go all the way to the dealer to replace. I got a cheap metal detector. More than paid for itself - finding stuff dropped in the grass.

My old, but sometimes sound logic, says that because I do so much dirt & sand work with the bucket, the dirt just works its way to the center hole and clogs it up. After considerable thought, I believe it is only happening on the bottom 2 pivot pins, not the ones attached to the hydraulic cylinder, and the ones that are always scraping on the ground, or in a dirt pile. I guess I'll just grease them more often, to keep fresh grease in the fitting, and to flush out the dirt.

I'm going to drill the center hole all the way thru the pin too. I liked that idea that ruffdog had.

So rather than the grease channel being an "L" shape - you will drill it and make it a "T" shape. Certainly couldn't hurt anything. As I remember you have a DeWalt cordless grease gun. I just got one about a week ago. Easy and fun - went thru one tube of grease doing the grapple, FEL, tractor and rear blade. I think I went a bit overboard on the greasing but its a lot of fun. Probably will get two complete greasings with one tube in the future. I think the DeWalt has more pressure than any of my hand guns.

Could be that you might have to give those bottom two pins a shot every time you go play in the dirt. Sure a lot easier than pulling and cleaning them. Thats got to be a challenge getting everything lined up again when reinstalling those pins.

However - from what I've read - - you should just about have an "EXPERT" rating at that by now - - ha, ha. Keep the sunny side up.........Oosik
