Hi Everyone,

Yesterday when I needed to bleed the system, it blew a seal (o-ring) and spewed the fluid all over the place, including me. Luckily only on my shoes and bottom of my pants.

I replaced the o-ring and it didn't leak. I did the "bleeding" thing and it blew another ring. Now, I have replaced the ring again and it doesn't leak.

So, what I need to know: Is there a more suitable place to bleed it. I learned this way from one of my "know it all
I have always bled the hydraulic system (when needed) up near the front (see pic) by loosening the large bolt.workers" . Well, it did work, a few times, until now.

Thanks a bunch, Jim

You need to start over.

What are you trying to bleed?
Something on the SOS?
Something on the onboard pump on the left side of the tractor?
Possibly a front mounted pump for a loader?
Where is the seal that keeps blowing?
On the pump?
Where the hydraulic lines go into the rear end?
Somewhere else?
What hoses do you have?
The onboard pump used steel lines, not hoses.
Where exactly did you try to bleed it?
Can you post a photo?
What year is your tractor?
They used a couple of different types of connections where the lines connect to the pump and rear end.
If you are trying to bleed the onboard pump for the 3 point then you would bleed it at the pump.
There is a socket head plug on the side of the pump.
With the engine at slow idle crack that plug and let it puke oil till the bubbles are gone.
Do you have any kind of a repair manual for this tractor?
A manual would get you up to speed on the terminology for this tractor and greatly assist us in deciphering what you are wanting to do. A manual might even make our replys irrelevant as it would show you what and how to do it.

Wow! If it could, I'd dig a hole and bury it <grin>.

AFIK, none of the hydraulics are working! My concern was, and is, the front loader. The valve controlling my 3-point isn't working either. So, it seems there is AIR in the system that needs to come out. Many, many, times before this has happened and I bled it by loosening the bolt on the lower hose (metal pipe) up front, as shown in the diagram. The unit is a 1986. Yes, I know the hydraulics go through a metal hose up to the front, but there are hoses that operate the 3-point. I think we should be able to communicate without going to the "tractor dictionary" to make sure that all the words are "PC". I hate PC <grin>. You mean you can't determine where I'm trying to bleed it by looking at my professional art work? Did you ever really see a tractor....only kidding. There's is air in the system and I want to get it out. It's that simple. Thanks for your reply. PS - The SOS means HELP really urgent! That's one of the terms that is probably in the tractor dictionary. I'm not familiar with it other than a request for help.

I was trying to help...
SOS also means Select O Speed - Ford's Trademarked name for the world's first powershift transmission in a tractor that was used from about 1958 till 1975.
When I read SOS I assumed you had a 65-75 Ford 2110 which was a 3 cylinder gas or diesel LCG (low center of gravity) model used for mowing and Might have had a powershift.
But Ford did import another tractor, built by Shibura in Japan and also called that one a 2110.
The two machines are completely unalike.
I know a bit about the 65-75 models as they are similar to the 2000/3000 tractors but little about the imported ones.
So for the benefit of others here who may try to help you; do you have the 65-75 model or the imported one?
As for PC and all that, well, no PC here.
But most of us who are not professional writers do not write as effectively or clearly as might be desired.
So in order to discuss complex procedures on things like tractor hydraulic systems it really helps if we are able to use some standard terminology.
As an example, I think of tubes as being rigid and hoses as being flexible and know of no hoses in the onboard hydraulic system on an LCG model - thus my query.
I also made the assumption you were talking about the 3 point hydraulic pump (On a 65-75 tractor) which might have been used for a front loader or might not have.
As to your picture, it may well have been a fine rendition of what you see but it conveyed no useful information to me - which I thought was your point in drawing it.
Anyway, if you would tell us which 2110 you have I will either continue to try to help you with your hydraulic problems or leave off for others with more experience with imported models to help.

I know you were trying to be helpful and I appreciate it. I only know what I know, and not too sure of that :).

Mine is a 1986 Ford 2110, 45 HP, 4WD, Hydraulic 3-Pt Hitch, Hydraulic Front Loader. It's been a life saver for me...........well a work saver, anyway. It had only 500 hrs on it when I got it 12-13 years ago and has just over 1100 on it now. I have hydraulic down pressure for my auger in the form of a unit on top of the auger. I was a fencing contractor for a number of years before I retired in 04. Have used it to scrape, spread gravel, mow cacti, etc, etc on my property here in NU. Yep, it's been a life saver.

Many thanks.
