Son building a new garage... welcome to rural living

Well, to make a long story short, my son grew up on this property since he was 3 years old. He has watched me build, change, remodel, and maintain the property. He never had any interest in any of the previous. When he finally graduated college, he moved away to the city life . Everything at your fingertips, everything taken care of (maintenance stuff), and the easy living.

He and his wife have been away for about 4 1/2 years. Guess what? Now he wants the rural life, and is actually buying his childhood home from us! But... he wants a garage for his Jeep and car projects. (When we subdivided the property, we kept the existing detached garage on the new property). He now wants to learn all the stuff that Dad knows ..... so we are building a garage for him. Here is a link to a YouTube channel he started, showing a short video of us doing some site prep work on the tractor.

I have not taken any pics, but he has done some time lapse stuff during the framing, siding, and roofing. As soon as he gets it edited, he is going to post them. Between his job and then working on the build, he does not have too much time left over to get the edits done. I think he is trying to get some framing footage done this weekend.

Yes, I am. It was kinda a shock, if you asked me 10 years ago, he was the last one of the kids that would ever say that.... I guess being out in the real world opened his eyes. That is ok with me... life is a learning experience!

Curious why you're not using rebar for the bulk of the slab, or footings for the walls?

The slab is 8” thick, 6000 lb mix. There is rebar around the perimeter and going between the two halves. Just a bit more cost effective.
