I'd personally stay away from this.

Why would you say that? You could call the phone number and talk to the guys selling it. If you did you would find out that it was bought new in November of 2009 along with a CT445. Over the winter the owner of the landscape company wanted me (the foreman and maintenance guy) to paint the tractors black (company color and the bobcat paint is not very good). I told him I couldn't guarantee the paint would stick on the loader arms because I couldn't sand them well enough and I didn't want to sandblast them. The next summer (2010) we put 122 hours on it.

The reason we are selling it is because IN OUR SITUATION the controls are a safety hazard. We have 3 tractors the CT230 and the CT445 I already mentioned and a JD 4110. The CT445 and the 4110 have the same controls: brake on the left and separate front and reverse hydro pedals on the right. The CT230 has a clutch pedal on the left (for the PTO but also disengages the hydro), a forward/reverse rocker pedal on the right and the brake to the right of that. Last year while going down hill the boss nearly ran someone over because he thought he was pressing the brake but pushed the clutch and started the machine freewheeling!

What exactly do you think is fishy about the ad? We have a legit phone number up on the ad and obviously didn't use a stock photo. Are we too cheap on our price that you think it's a scam? Please tell me, I'd like to know why you are trying to sabotage the sale of a perfectly fine piece of equipment.

I'm not buying. I got my own CT230. I came across the ad. The weird colours with no explanation might indicate a roll over or other damage. Your right, I didn't investigate...but I'm not buying. A simple explanation like you gave for the paint job would ease someones mind though.

How about "I wonder why it's black" not "it looks fishy" and "I'd stay away from it". If I were trying to conceal damage it would make the most sense to keep the stock colors right? I didn't want to paint it, but it wasn't my call. When you have 240+ posts someone reading this thread might take what you are saying seriously and to say without any evidence that you'd stay away is just wrong.

I figured you were not buying since you already have one, I just don't know why you would say the things you did. I'm sure you figured I'd never see your post and call you out, but I did.

Here's an idea:

You just learned that repainted almost new tractors scare the general public.

Why not use this learning experience and modify your ad to indicate that the tractor was repainted to match your company's paint scheme. This will put to rest the fear that there is an old ***** waiting under that new dress.

It is a fact that tractors are often repainted to hide ugliness. Take it from a guy who has bought a few tractors, and has learned to skip over well priced repaints in his searches.
