Hi all, first time posting here. I have a TC25D that wouldn't crank after it stalled when brushhogging in the field. I have tried your sticky thread http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/new-holland-owning-operating/124642-tc33d-wont-start.html and found some very good information there. I also already called the local dealer out twice (and spent the big bucks). Both times, the tractor was able to restart with him being here. As soon as he left, the tractor cannot restart again. Instead of spending another few hundreds on the job that gets me no where, I'd like to attempt fixing that myself. Although I'm pretty handy myself, I really hadn't done any tractor work other than the regular LOF and implement attachment/detachment.
Before I proceed on the start relay install option, the replacement of cables or the starter (when I checked to verified) or anything that will be costly, I notice that the PTO idiot light (to the right most) comes on whenever I attempt to start with the ignition switch turned (this was intermittent before and now it's steady). I went ahead and purchased both the mid and rear PTO safety switches, which are returnable if in good resellable condition.
I started with the rear safety switch per their recommendation due to price. After I unscrewed the switch out of the transmission case, unexpectedly a 3/4 inch long (or so) dowel pin washed out. I assume this is the pin that actuates the plunger when the rear PTO is engaged. This calls for a bit of concern.
So, my questions are:
If this doesn't fix the start problem, I'll start replacing the mid PTO switch. Is that anything I should look out for so I don't get any surprises?

So, my questions are:
- How do I place this dowel pin back into the case, especially with HST fluid draining out of the hole?
- Is there any alignment between the pin and the hole I need to worry about?
- The two ends of the pin are different. One is rounded and the other is flat. Which way does the pin go in?
- How do I verify the new switch is now working and it was the root problem? I assume the switch is closed when it's pressed.
