Sold the DK45

Hey deputyrpa, we spoke on the phone a couple days ago about how you liked your DK. I got my DK40SE on Friday and it is a dream come true compared to my old Ford 2110. Looking forward many years of use with it. Already pulled a couple stumps out with ease. Thanks for the info. It helped me make my decision.

Actually, I have about 3 hours under my belt mowing with a 9' New Idea disc mower. We were putting in haylage. It wasn't that bad. It beats the 1086 open station. However, I have to say that the the stereo isn't quite loud enough.....:)

Not the noise as much as fuel consumption........ I'd also be interested in long term durability.

I've run plenty of turbos that were nice and quiet...... never ran one that was as fuel efficient as a natural unit though.

It was delivered with the fuel light on. I put in 10 gallons and operated 7 hours. Before the light went on again I put 10 more in it. (Just got a new fuel tank - delivery is Tuesday). On the first 10 gallons, during the 7 hours of use, I mowed with the disc mower for 3, 6' flail mower for 2&1/2, drove a half-mile to get 12' discs and disced for 1/2 hour, and putzed around the house on wood chip duty and horse manure cleanup. I'd say that's pretty good. Those Sisu engines are supposed be be really fuel efficient, and are known for longevity. Their new big engines were tested by Nebraska Tractor Testing and were found to love up to their fuel use claims.

Deputy, we'll miss you here on the Kioti forum. Don't be shy about checking back in once in a while. Maybe we can have a special category for former Kioti owners or perhaps, like the USMC, we should just insist that "once a Kioti owner, always a Kioti owner" and just ignore that you are in civilian life now.

Good luck with your new tractor. Sounds great.

Hey there! Congratulations on your Kioti! I'm glad I could help out.

You're finding out how powerful these Kiotis are. No doubt about it - HP to HP, they're of the strongest out there. That Ford (Shibaura) is no slouch, but the ease of use and modern power of the DK40 probably blows it away. I wish you all the best with it. Please be meticulous with the maintenance!

Hey Island! How have you been? I'll be around....once a pack member, always a pack member! I'm just in a darker shade of orange now....with more blue in it.

I mentioned your name to Bullopa (here on this thread) when he called me to not buy my tractor, but to buy a DK40SE. He's a nice fellow, and I figured if anyone can provide him with ...uh....everything 40, it's you. I hope he studied your threads!

Islandtractor and DeputyRPA, I do do my own maintenance and am pretty good about it all. And actually, now that I have a ROPS, I'm going to teach and let my 14 year old son use it as well. In exchange for doing the oil changes of course!

When he was about 6, he and I took a tractor safety course together. He was incredible, asking really intelligent questions - unlike the stupid things some of the adults were asking. And he aced the final exam with a perfect score! If you guys can let me know how to post a pic, I'll put it up.

Again, thanks for all the help guys.

To add a photo to a post just "go advanced" and then "manage attachments". That lets you select a jpg file from your hard drive or you can link to a cloud service like snapfish if you like to keep your photos there.

Islandtractor, here's a pic of me and my new girlfriend!

Cute but too clean. Stop sitting around admiring her and roll her in the dirt if you want real action.

Deputyrpa and Island tractor - I'm way past those pics already. We have nine horses, five sheep, three goats, five pigs and five dogs. More than a half mile of horse fence, a barn, kennels and a riding arena done already. But don't fear, there are other projects on the way. The coyote will be doing a bunch of work. Currently clearing a small section of woods so we can see the pond from the house. Waiting for the cutting edge to come in so I can dig out the stumps. Google Map this address: 4821 South Stephentown Road, East Nassau, NY
