Sold my Gooseneck moved to a tag along equipment trailer

I had a 2023 Big Tex 22GN (35+5) with Mega Ramps and 48" spread axles. I bought this trailer to haul a skid steer and mini excavator or other equipment. Found out, it was just too big for what I would use it for. So, I sold it, and bought a GPS trailers 22+2... tag along (bumper pull), 14K (dual 7k pound axles). This trailer seems to be VERY well built. The I beam that makes up the tongue is mandrel bent, not cut / welded, and the cross braces are on 16" centers, not 24" like the other trailers I looked at.

I just was not using the Gooseneck and got tired of it just sitting. This 14k dual axle will haul anything I have, and it pulls great!

I had never heard of GPS trailers out of Thomasville, GA... but this thing is built well. All LED lights, electric brakes on the axles, 2x8 treated lumber for the deck, very pleased with it.

Will miss the Goosey, but glad it went to someone who will use it.

Please share couple of photos of your new trailer.

I suppose "bumper pull" is just a term many use for non-gooseneck - I take it you have something like this on your truck?

My tandem trailer is 7'x16' 7000 lbs GVW rated and considering if I should upgrade now or later...

Bumper Pull = Tag Along... I have a Ram 3500 DRW (Max Tow) Package, with a very heavy rear bumper, receiver hitch, the new trailer takes a 2 5/16 ball instead of the gooseneck ball. I pull a triple axle toy hauler with a B&W Companion Hitch (5th Wheel) as well.

“Bumper pull hitch or bumper hitch” is an old and outdated term that goes back to the days when hitches were physically attached to the bumper. Todays reciever hitches are attached to the frame not the bumper but some old folks like me still refer to them as such.

The old bumpers were structurally solid. The vehicle’s jacks were even designed to lift the vehicle via the bumper. Some shop jacks could lift the whole front end or the whole rear end using the bumper.

Vehicles today are designed to fold up in an accident to minimize the impact on passengers. They bumpers can’t hold crappola.

My hitch is directly welded to my frame. I've pulled some VERY heavy trailers with the hitch. I routinely pull my 38' Fountain... I've always called NON Gooseneck / 5th Wheel trailers as "bumper pull". I didn't know there was any other term for it. As for the bumper on my Ram, it's not OEM.

I didn't know that bumper pull was also associated with a 5th wheel hitch... my B&W Companion fits in my bed. Learn something new every day!

Sorry.

The statement in my previous post was not well worded. Both 5th wheel and gooseneck hitches are not “bumper hitches”. Neither are todays reciever hitches but they are similar in that the hitch ball is pretty darn near the same place they would have been on a bumper hitch.

I edited my previous post to be clearer (hopefully).
