Anyone use a mini split with dedicated solar panels?

I don't have any connection or have I bought anything from this company but I like the idea of self contained solar...

When I looked into this a couple of years ago, the budget breaker was the cost of storage batteries, if someone wants to have a system that isn't tied into the electric grid as a backup. But as a general concept, it could take a lot of load off the electric grid if homes were cooled during the day via mini splits powered by solar panels.

One thing that I have learned example a
refrigerature 12 volt costs a whole lot more than
a regular 120 volt one. Not sure but I think that the
12 volt unit took more juice than the 120 volt unit.
The two window a/c units that I have combined output
is 14.8K btu's and together they cost less to run than a
5K btu from walmart.

Instead of worrying about this company decide what you really want to do. Batteries will be required if you want to run it off the grid. If you are on the grid many electric utilities will allow you to feed them excess power (and you get paid for it) during the day and continue to run your equipment normally, thus saving the cost of batteries. The solar cells will last a LOT longer than the batteries.

No batteries required as unit is dual grid 120v ac and 12v dc and SEER 22 rated.

Also grid draw is adjustable from 0 to 600W

Plug and play is an interesting concept and it provides heat too…

Of course everything comes at a price.

In the heat of the summer my part of California had already experienced rotating outages when grid taxed.

Are you thinking of using it in a specific area, like a workshop, greenhouse, or a detached space? Or more as a backup/reduction on your main house system? The EG4 Hybrid Solar Mini-Split Kit looks like a solid choice, especially with its 12000 BTU capacity, SEER2 22 efficiency, and 1800W of solar PV. A dedicated solar-powered system like this could be a great way to stay off-grid or cut down on electricity costs.

If you’re considering a 2 zone heat pump, that could be a good alternative for larger spaces or multiple rooms. You might also want to check out MiniSplits4Less for more options on mini-split systems and heat pumps.

Absolutely! A solar-powered mini split heat pump is a great way to boost energy efficiency while cutting utility costs. Since mini splits already use relatively low power compared to traditional HVAC systems, pairing them with mission solar panels can make a big impact.

I’ve seen setups where just a few solar panels can offset the usage of a single-zone mini split, especially in well-insulated homes. The key is making sure your solar array can handle the peak load and that you have a good inverter setup (grid-tied or hybrid if you're also using battery storage).

If you're off-grid, you’ll definitely want a solid battery bank because heat pumps can draw a lot of power on startup.

Anyone here actually running one completely off solar?
