Has anyone bought solar powered LED parking lot type lights? There are lots out there at many price points. Not sure if any are good or how many lumens is right. Seems like a lot of solar LED lights are not that bright. I need to light up several pasture gate areas. Running underground wiring is not an option for most of the areas.

Ive never seen any solar lights that are very bright....if you want to have them remain on. I have seen some motion controlled lights that are bright as they dont have to run all the time.

I'd prefer motion sensor lights. I don't want the place to be lit up all the time.

How much light do you really need? a 60 watt bulb is 800 lumens & 100 watt is 1100.
Do you need it bright enough to do some work or just enough not to trip on something?
How long does the light need to stay on?
What will activate the motion detection? You driving/walking up to the gate? A herd of cows hanging out?

Thanks for the link. I wouldn't need enough light to work, only see if horses are at the gate, maybe put harnesses on them, not trip etc. I don't need lights to stay on long - maybe 15 minutes after motion in detected. I looked at the specs on some 120v flood lights and seems like 3000 lumens may be what I need?

Every solar, stand alone, type light that I've come across has a lousy battery in them. They work fine for awhile, maybe even a year, then they don't work at all. Replacing the battery with another will work to some degree, but in the few cases that I'm aware of, the replacement batteries are not much better.

The dual head HF light is pretty good. Prob a bit brighter than you need. I have had one on a tree at our piece of property for about 7 months now. No electricity there either.

I did have the mid grade HF solar one on my garage for about 3yrs. The bat eventually failed. They have since gone down hill.
