while i was at the local john deere today trying to get the new longer top link i ordered four days ago straightened out i was looking in the yard and i seen what i call a gill or soil pulveriser and i was thinking that right now i thought instead of buying a box blade that i would buy a gill. one reason is that i would get better soil working mixing i think that while the teeth dig in and tear things like roots and grab anything in the ground hiding from me.and leave a good surface instead of rough. am i not seeing this stuff right or am i on the right track.

I for one would LOVE to see it.

How much, who made it, etc...

Not sure it would work for your driveway like a box blade, but for my pasture clearing, NOW you are talking!

Be well,
David

A puverizer is a great tool for preparing a seed bed, much cheaper than power rake.

Gill is/was a brand name. I believe you can get some other implements with a Gill brand.

I made my own pulverizer but never got around to putting the roller springs on it. Heaviest implement I own.

Yup, Gill is owned by Woods now, and they are marketing some of the older Gill stuff as their heavier duty lines now. We have an older Gill box blade and it is a real commercial grade unit.

As for the pulverizer, it is something that is on my list of equipment to buy. For soil prep work and maintaining riding arenas they can't be beat. Really though they are for a much different use than a box blade. I guess they both level the ground to some extent, but that's about the only similarities. Basically for grading work you want a box blade, for seed bed prep you want the pulverizer.

Bought mine used $250, a Leinbach. I think that was my first purchase... Don't use it much but is handy when I do need it.
