Software for movie clips

Does anyone know of some good software to use to edit movie clips? I have some that are too dark and I need to lighten them up.

I use Nero and I love it. I don't use it to edit movies but it will do it.

If you're using windows try this Windows Movie Maker - The best video editing tool for Windows that's absolutely free and chances are you already have it installed on your computer as part of XP SP2. Microsoft Movie Maker has all the basic video editing tools plus a good collection of transitions and video effects.This will change the brightness as well.

I think the new Windows Movie Maker in Vista is improved, but it used to be very limited and I'm not sure which one you'll have installed. Another option is Adobe Premiere Elements for about $100- not a professional video editing package but likely everything you'd need. Of course, you could just get a mac and all the software you need all ready installed

This is PERFECT and it is already on my computer and I didn't even know it.
