I've got a NH model 66 that I've got working fine now and have planned to bale hay with this season. It turns out that someone I know has a JD model 14t that while it isn't locked up, it needs pick up teeth, the pick up is bent some, it needs knotter repairs, and probably some other stuff. Now I've heard the 14t is a better baler, but would you guys trade a working NH model 66 for a JD 14t that needs work? If I make this trade, the other guy can make money off the 66 because he has little in the 14t and I will get a JD baler.

I need some honest thoughts on this. I like JD better, and I know a lot are scared of the wad board on the 66, but it works. What do you guys think? Thanks, phillip

Do you have to buy it, or are they going to give it to you?

My brother just bought two 14T balers, one with a Wisconsin Robbin (SP?) in good running condition. He paid $500 for both of them. He had another 14T that would not miss a bale all day long...so far as the tractor and baler were stationary. As soon as you tried moving it down a windrow, it would spew hay out the back as fast as it went in the front. Go figure that one...

My other brother has a NH 68 (newer than the 66 maybe?) that he has had as long as I can remember (he is 20 years older than me) and I don't think he has put $25 into it except maybe shear pins and twine etc.

I guess my point is that I would not get rid of a working unit, (albeit a NH /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif) in lieu of a John Deere needing work. I'd be looking to find a second NH as a parts machine.

Good luck. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
