I am widening a single stage snow blower to fit my tractor. I have the shell done and the auger is fit up. I am having trouble finding information on how fast I should spin my auger. With the creeper gears on my machine I can travel real slow but what RPM do I need to "throw" the snow out of the chute? Of course this is a do it yourself project and the blower is a retrofit from something else.

Have you looked up the blower on line. Your model i mean

A mile a minute is a good speed to expell snow.

Take the auger diameter and it's rpm (put some Pi into the calculations)

I bet you come up with something between 1000 and 1500 rpms.

Can your auger take it?

The design of my blower is such that the fan turns at same RPM as the PTO. (many also do so)
My fan is 16" diam and at 500RPM distance is pathetic so I use my 700 RPM. Much better.
Newer better blowers tend to have a larger blower fan (up to 24") as well as use 4 blades vs my 3.
Close tolerance between blower blades and the blower drum also counts
In the end HP counts. More fan, greater diameter = more HP.

I am using a single stage blower. I have decided to aim for 800rpms. I spent most of today making flighting for the auger extension. I also added carrier bearings at each end of the old flighting to support the longer shaft and additional auger pieces on each side. I still have plenty of work to do and if anyone has any ideas or experience, I will be glad to listen and learn

In my experience most single stage blowers run around 2000rpm. The closer the clearances between the auger and the housing the farther it will throw snow.
The problem with the single stage blower is the speed of the auger, it turns very fast so balance becomes a problem
