Got this today in the mail:

Product Improvement Campaign: Kubota B2789 Snowblower

We are sending you this letter because our records show that you
purchased a B2789 Snowblower and Kubota is voluntarily conducting a
safety campaign that applies to your unit.

What is the Problem?
Kubota has determined through an investigation that your Snowblower
was built without a safety driveline guard. Under certain conditions
this may represent a potential hazard to anyone operating the unit.

What products are affected?
The products involved are certain Kubota model B2789 Snowblowers sold
between 09/2010 and 03/2014.

What should you do?
This MANDATORY SAFETY CAMPAIGN requires that YOU, the customer, do the
following to AVOID PERSONAL INJURY: PLEASE DO NOT OPERATE THE AFFECTED
MACHINES UNTIL REPAIRED. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR SELLING DEALER AS SOON AS
POSSIBLE.

Sounds like they just want to install another guard on it somewhere? Anybody know what it is yet? I'm happy with mine the way it is. But then again I'm not dumb enough to stick my hands or feet in it.

The only two "guards" on mine are for the blower chute and the drive shaft. If you have those I don't have a clue as to what they are talking about. Wondering if they are really going to repair a defective shield like on the drive shaft.

I received the same letter and I couldn't see how another guard could be placed anywhere on the unit so I contacted my dealer. I believe Kubota provided them with lists of customers who purchased the B2789. Surprisingly, I'm not on the list even though I received the letter. The dealer is looking into it and will get back to me. It may take a while, but I'll post when I hear from them.

It is at the gearbox on the blower where the PTO driveshaft attaches. You can see the u-joint. Apparently it is a flip-up guard just like on the back of the tractor over the PTO.

Dealer says he has to give it to me, so I said I'll take it for when I trade in. It will still be shiny new in the box.
I like the ease of greasing and service I have now without more stuff in the way. I'm smart enough not to stick my arms and legs in my blower when it is running. LOL.
