Just wondering how much of a fuel supply the average tractor owner tries to keep around for wintertime snow removal tasks? My tractor is done with mowing and has a full tank, plus I have 20 gallons of diesel stored in cans. Have another 25 gallons of gasoline in cans for the ATV and 4 stroke and 2stroke snowblowers, I always try to keep at least of minimum of 5 gallons of diesel and gasoline on hand year around...but hate fetching more in the colder weather.

I keep both tractors full, and when a snow of 6" or more is forcast I just go ahead and fill my 6 gallon diesel can. Even in the record snows Feb 2011 (30 inches, 2 storms a week apart) i didn't have to add fuel. Cleared my drives, 5 neighbors drives, and the street beside my house. Now gas for the generator, that's a different story.

I just drive the tractor down to my local gas station. 2 miles away. Just fill it up. It will last me at least 8 hours of running i think.

I went into last winter with a full tank on the tractor and two full 5 gallon cans. Plowed the driveway 2 times and probably burnt a gallon or two of fuel.

Hard to say, as I use my tractor for snow removal and firewood hauling. That being said, I believe I went through maybe 15 gallons two winters ago and only 10 last winter, as there was not much snow to speak of. I wait until the stations are carrying the winter grade fuel to fill my cans, as No. 2 will gel up in our Northern Minnesota winters.

Then again, I may be way off.:confused3: I'll attempt to keep closer track of wintertime fuel consumption this year.

Easily the same tankful for me last winter. I got out the B3030 w/ blower exactly one time. Didn't break my heart a bit. It was a great heating season.

I try to keep mine full and 20 gallons of pre-treated winter fuel,I have a PTO generator so I like to keep enough on hand for power losses. My plow time is about 3 hours when needed or about 3 gallons.

I keep about 250 gal to 400 gal at a time if i can. Im waiting for the price to go down again to buy as im at about 300 gal right now. But everything i own is diesel except my zero turn, riding mower, utv, snowmobile. But i i do keep 50-100 gal of gas at a time too if i can.

LBrown59, seems like every time a fueling query comes up, you post pics of your setup...and believe me, I would do the same thing as I am envious of how neat it is. Just curious, why is your illumination there only a single incandescent bulb? I use 4' shoplight fixtures with in every outbuilding. The glare from bare bulbs is very distracting.
