Snow Pusher on compact Tractor

Good morning all,
looking for some feed back on anyone who has used or has tried a 6' or 7' Snow pusher for there own use on a compact sized tractor size such as a Grand L 3540 Kubota? I'm thinking of maybe buying one but what to at least make sure it's not going to end up like a boat anchor, if you know what I mean.
Does or did your tractor push it well with a average size snow fall, (10")? Did you have a rubber edge & adjustable shoes or a metal cutting edge?

I push snow with my sub with no problems. Chains help.

I built a 5' one out of 2x10's to see how my tractor would do. It does great with fluffy snow but sticky heavy snow is tough. Chains would help a bunch. Now I use it mainly to push the banks back when they get huge after using my truck plow.

I have a 7'6" pusher and a 7'6" power angle plow. In my area of Upstate loaded tires, chains and rear ballast are a must have for deeper snowfalls. For lighter snows I don't put the rear ballast on. My pusher has an adjustable height steel cutting edge. I have it set up a half inch so it doesn't dig into the gravel drive. Same with my plow. The shoes are set so the cutting edge is also up 1/2". I also made and installed an adjustable back drag blade on the pusher shown in the third pic.
If you don't have weight, chains, and ballast a snow pusher blade will stop your tractor when it fills up and you have no traction.

Thanks all for the feedback, not sure if I'm going forward with the snow pusher, as I do have loaded fronts & rears, but want no chains. I do Have a Back blade (LP3584) and a L2674 3 point snow blower which moves tons of snow, just thinking pusher or blade on front would be better then 72"bucket.I'm concerned that the pushers do not have trip springs and although I'm careful, s-it happens. Ah maybe do a little research on a 7' front angle blade?

You are correct that pusher blades don't have trip springs but neither does your 72" bucket. I plowed with a loader bucket for many years. I recently made my power angle plow from an old truck blade mounted to a SSQA plate. If you do build a PA plow install a crossover relief (Black device in center of QA plate) so if you do hit something with the blade angled the relief will let the blade turn.

Im not sure about the skid steer plate style, but my dad ran a homemade pusher on his front end loader for a few years. It had brackets that the loader bucket would slide into. They were made extra roomy, so if you hit something, the pusher would move around instead of the loader taking damage. So you would "drive" into it, then secure the two ends with short chains and binders.

I normally run a snowblower, but here is my snow pusher I use for lesser snows... like the 6" of lake effect we received this morning. Just adding wings to my 54" front blade on an about one thousand pound JD 420 garden tractor. Two range HST, Onan 20hp. Just put two 100 pound Allis Chambers weights on the rear this year, usually put four... and she will push straight ahead until the engine stalls.... unless heavy ice. Used to use just one plastic pipe on the bottom edge, but now I am adding a second PVC pipe over the first. Having a harder time finding the black plastic pipe. The inner pipe seems to keep the outer one from cracking as easily. This setup I am putting on this year is new, with one of the older 'wings' shown in one of the pictures. When I got it assembled, I put a fresh Tractor Supply electric fence wire on the top to keep it from spreading. The bottom rod [ 1/2" stainless bolt lengthened in the middle by adding some 1/2" rod ] goes thru the angle brace behind the blade, and the top rod is a piece of 1/2" galvanized pipe. The rods hold the 3/4" plywood wings in place snugly on the end of the blade. I put two small woods blocks on the front of the blade to hold the wings in place on top. And the added wire keeps the wings from trying to spread too far apart. Anywhilst, this is how I have been doing it for years....

I have an L3200 that has loaded tires and ballast in the rear and it takes all of that to push a 7' plow with a manual angle. I plow about 1/2 mile of gravel road and 2 large drives. I was thinking about a pusher before I bought this skid steer manual angle plow. It is much faster than a bucket for the road, and I would even do ok with a 6' plow with the snows we have here. I am glad I did not get the pusher because I dont think I could move it well enough in heavy snows.
