It's been pretty light this year. . . until Monday. Blizzard blew in, closed all the roads for two days, power out Monday and yesterday, and about 2 feet of snow. So I'm thinking I finally get to use the 'bota to move some snow.

Monday, tried to keep the road and driveway clear (we had snow and 30 - 60 MPH winds, so drifting was an issue). Thinking that with the backwheels full of RIMGuard and the scraper blade on the back I figured I'd have plenty of weight. Got the tractor stuck in a drift, but managed to walk it out (going down hill) using the FEL. So yesterday I put the chains on the back, and started again. Cleared the driveway ok, and a couple of small drifts blocking the road. Then started on the big drift (200' long, 6' high going down hill). Started at the top and tried to just take a bite with the FEL and then backing up the hill. That worked for about the first 30'. So then I went to the down hill side (the road is just a big circle with 7 houses lining it. Ours is the farthest in from the highway). So taking bites from the downhill side, so I can just back down to dump, I got all but about 20' done. Called it a day after throwing one of the chains and got stuck when that wheel slipped off the edge.
So I'll finish it tonight after I get home and put that chain back on.
Since I can see this being a recurring issue (we've lived here 3 years and this is the first time we've had this kind of storm), I was thinking maybe a snowblower might be a better way to handle the big drifts. The fact that even with chains and Rimguard on the back wheels, I can't push a long drift out of the way, makes me think just the FEL and the back blade isn't necessarily the best options.
Can you guys with snow blowers offer some advice? Does Kubota make a snow blower that will run off the midpoint PTO? I have a 1998
B2710 with a FEL. Do I need to remove the entire FEL or just the bucket? What's the max depth that a snowblower can chew through? Any other words of advice?
I'm thinking I have at least six months to work on a solution, so now's the time to get started I guess. Besides, I'm thinking it will be JUly before that 8 foot drift on my garden spot is melted.
