Looking into a snowpush with pull back option and a 3pt snowblower. Considering the snowpush and 781 rear pull snowblower from Erskine. How good is Erskine?

My preference is for a SSQD snow push and or angle blade for the front but I am unsure about the rear mounted snowblowers, need some recomendations for this. Does anyone else have the rear pull snowblower and has it worked out okay?

You'll get the best feedback over at plowsite.com. The cab will definatly be a huge asset for plowing.

Matt,
Thanks for the site information, I started out looking to put snow equipment on the new X749 and was staring out the window at the two cab units and realized that for this work I had enough room to use the larger equipment.

Erskine is a well respected name for sure-I don't think you could go wrong with that.

Kenny,
What is your thoughts on a pull type 3pt snowblower? The rep at Erskine says it is rear mounted and you drive thru the snow and blow it where you want. Bear in mind this far south in New Mexico we aren't experiencing the Maine winters, generally snow falls of less than 12".

Steve, I have only seen a few on TBN, no personal experience. In theory it sounds great though.

I came very close to ordering a pull type for our 4320 - those that have them seem to love them and the concern of driving over snow first is I believe "overblown" - the blower will pick it up anyway. I read all there was to read about them and found positive thoughts. Only issue is in really deep snow or banks where you might need to use FEL more. My reason why I didn't was because I have our drive truck plowed and often do cleanup and wanted to be able to back into banks etc.

Thanks guys,

We don't have enough build up in southern New Mexico to be a problem like in the north, haven't seen any banks of snow over 3 or 4 ft in height and that is rare. I am thinking the snow push could deal with that much.

How much snow do you need to have to warrant the snow blower? I am beginning to think a snow push should handle most of it in my locale.

Here in mid-michigan, I just use a back blade on my Case DX45 (which is similar to the size of you JD110) for clearing snow. You need to have room for snow banks, however. We get numerous 2-6 inch snow falls and typically a couple in the 10-14 inch range. I have a spot where the snow drifts often reach 3 feet. Usually I can make one pass down each side of the driveway with the blade angle and be done except for the area around the garage and barn that takes a little more maneuvering. On deeper snow falls and the drifts, I usually make a couple of passes with the blade raised some on the first pass. If we get significant snow, I have to move the banks back once or twice a season. I straddle the bank, and move it over with the blade angled and raised some. I have loaded R4s and in 4 wheel drive the DX45 is pretty much unstoppable in the snow.

I have property in northern Michigan where we get a lot more snow. I use a 3 point, rear facing, blower on my L39. I have a narrow drive and the blower sends the snow off into the woods so I do not get banks building up on the side of the drive.

Steve, those rear pull blowers aren't too cheap. Check out this link for the pusher. Kage Innovation really the best of both worlds.
