I finally got the snowblower attached to my tractor. I purchased this last year, but it showed up one day before I had my shoulder operation so there was no time to get it installed and hooked up. We had so little amount of snow last year that I just went ahead and used the snow plow instead of working in the cold getting the darn blower mounted.
I went with an electric motor for the blower chute rotator and an electric linear actuator for the chute deflector and both are working nicely.
I used a 12 vdc motor for the chute rotator and it works okay only problem is mounting the darn motor as the shaft is very short and only 10 mm diameter. We made a coupling that fits over the shaft and then drilled a small hole through the flat surface on the motor shaft. Of all things ended up using a finish nail that we taped through the hole and then pound the cut end a bit so it would not fall out of the hole over time. This motor is available from Ebay and even Amazon brush_gearmotor
The chute deflector is a 24 vdc linear actuator with 4 of travel. It runs a bit slow on 12 vdc, but is fast enough to move the deflector and is easier to control at the slow speeds.
For the control box I used an electrical junction box I had around which was a tight fit with the two switches momentary switches and the one on/off switch. It is mounted on the support frame for the weather break and can be moved slightly back and forth for ease of hitting the switches. I ordered the switches from Del City and they were like $4.50 each plus shipping.Power Window Switch
The wiring is not cleaned up yet. I will be adding a couple of quick disconnects and connecting the wires at the blower somehow to keep them free for rotating and to make sure they do not get caught up in any of the moving parts.
Now all we need is some snow to play in
