I have a new GC2400 and need a front mount snowblower. I know Massey sells one but it is expensive. Does anyone know any alternative snowblower manufacturers for this model?
from what I have heard, save some money, buy a snow blower Ariens 32" snow blower is aprox $2,400.00 easy to use, good for tight spaces, blows snow aprox 50 feet, gas engine, save the hours on the tractor for bigger jobs, and you don't have to remove the buckel, tractor pushes snow with buckel just fine.
Do yourself a favour, and buy a blower. If you think the front mounts are pricey, have a look at a good rear mount. Once you see that, you may decide to spend the extra on a front blower. Leave the gas walk behinds in the store, after all, you bought a tractor to work it, and not wax it, right??

To answer your question, no, there are not any aftermarket front snowblowers available for the Massey (or any of the major SCUTs/CUTs). The front mount blowers, while many are made by RAD, are specific to each tractor. The hitch is also specific to the tractor. Many brands of aftermarket rear mount blowers are available.
In my experience, I don't find a walk behind blower very comparable to a tractor front mount blower. Front mounts are great for clearing long driveways quickly with minimal wear and tear on the operator. A walk behind is much slower, and requires considerable effort by the operator depending on your physical condition. The advantage of a walk behind is maneuverability. You can get the walk behind into places the tractor can't go, like walkways for example.
You can push snow with the FEL, but if the snow is deeper than about 6-8 inches it is not very practical. In my experience the bucket fills up quickly and then the snow spills to the sides. Moving a foot or more becomes a tedious, time consuming job. A front blade would be vastly superior to using the loader for moving snow and about a $1k less expensive than the front blower. Comparable in cost or even less then a decent walk behind.
Yep, yer right, it's expensive. But it's worth it, in my opinion. I got one when I bought the tractor (that was the main job I bought it for) and have never regretted it.
I'd done my driveway for 18 years with a walk-behind, and decided I was just getting too beat up doing that.
Not only the physical effort, it took me about 5 hours with the walk-behind; now takes about 1-1/2 hours with the tractor. Well worth the price, I'd say.
I think what tsteahr says is also true, as our first snow storm this year (9" of wet stuff) caught me with the blower still in storage and the FEL on. No problem I thought, I'll just use the bucket! I found it can be done, but it's VERY inefficient.
I hear ya,
I'm trying to save up to buy the front mount snowblower but I was fortunate enough to already own a Craftsmen snowblower and ATV plow before buying the tractor. It will take me a couple of years but I will have my cab and snowblower and then my attitude will be "BRING IT ON!!!" I love the video one GC2610 owner posted on youtube while snowblowing at night. Looked like he was very comfy in the cab Watching these makes me drool...
I bought the front blower attachement for my GC2400 just last year and couldn't be happier. On the MA / NH boarder we had 5 storms of 12+" in January and the blower never got clogged. I have a gravel driveway and broke a lot of sheer pins but got the hang of it pretty quick. SUggest you have a good supply of both the auger pins (2) and the main shaft pin, which is different size. Love my Massey!
still looking for an online video demonstrating how to set up /mount the snow blower if anyone can direct me. The manual is ok but I like the visual ..
