Small square bales

Barn size for 2000 squares. Any input would be appreciated

Are you asking what size barn to hold 2,000 bales???

Do the math, measure the size bale you want to use and times it by 2K and add a little to get the total volume, + room to get them in there...

The internet says ("so it must be true!") that most baler chutes are 18" (high) x 18" (wide). The bale length can be adjusted but many end up being 36"-40" long.
so....
1.5' x 1.5' x 3.33' bale is 7.5 cubic feet.
So 2000 bales would be 15,000 cubic feet.

Not accounting for posts, or hay elevator space etc..
A 25' x 25' x 25' space,
or a 50' x 25' x 12' space, etc... is ~15,000 cubic feet.

Most small sq balers make a 14'' X 18'' cross section & what ever length operator desires but normal length is somewhere close to 36''

We put about 5,000 small square bales in this barn. Could probably squeeze in another 2,000 if we really wanted to. I believe it's 40 x 60 x 14.

Its really nice to leave a couple loaded trailers in the barn and unload the next day after a long day of hauling hay.

First - how high can you stack with your equipment, or are you using a bale wagon that stack's as you go. Figure the height when in stacking mode plus a margin for error. Barn maneuverability? How big is your tractor. How tight can it turn. How are you going to place the stacks. A lot goes into this operation. Some folks have open sides on barn and later trap the pile. Others design theirs for several bale wagon width (like the old NewHoland) and stack from one end. Leave room for equipment width. Lots to think about. My bales run 14/16/36 give or take. Hope this helps.
