I have had an old small spring tooth here for years, a 9 shank spring tooth , it was a pull behind and I converted it over to 3PH. Although I had never used it , it has seen very little use by looking at the spring tines. I picked it up at an auction for little of nothing. I am using it in the WIFES garden to cultivate the weeds out of the walk-drive strips. The tines are an C tine style, with a groove or slot in the shank where the tine mounts to the round rod on the frame, some of the tines are stuck-rusted to the round bar, some are free to move in the slot, and some are fairly loose in the slot. My question is, how loose should the tines be in the slot to achieve the desired vibration on the tines? Some are froze, some are sloppy. I am freeing them all up, and replacing bolts as needed, I just don't know how much play should be left for the tines to work in that slot. Any one familiar with this kind of spring tooth?? Thanks in advance, rasp.
