I have a 3 yard dump truck. It has an electric over hydraulic system with a telescoping cylinder to lift the body. The hydraulic tank has no drain plug and probably holds about a gallon. The system uses Dextron for fluid. In the maitenance section of the manual there is no mention of fluid changing which could be a pain w/o a drain. And no mention of a filter or screen.
I asked a guy who worked in the fab shop that built the body when I should change the hydraulic fluid. He said, "never, you dont change your car ATF until 100K and the dump never does anywhere near that much work".
I am not sure if this was good advise that is why I am asking here. I have had the truck 10 years w/o any problems and would like to keep it that way.
Thanks.

If there a filler opening?

If it has a place to add fluid, then you can suck out the fluid using a smalll oil pump, vacuum pump, or whatever.

Therw are sometimes reasons to change fluid. Water contamination, burnt smell, etc.
