That is where the whole thing with the box stores gets confusing. Those stores don't explain that they don't do service, and the local dealers aren't obligated to do warranty service on machines they did not sell. In some areas where a BBS buyer can't find a local dealer to do service, this can make the great sounding Cub Cadet three year warranty worth about as much as the piece of paper it's printed on, and of course the buyer is responsible for transporting the tractor to and from a dealer.
Even if you buy the chepest of cheap Craftsman LT, during the initial warranty period Sears will come right to your house to fix your tractor for free. That adds an interesting twist to buyers in the LT market. That initial savings at the box store can add up to one big PIA if warranty issues should arise.
