Hello Everyone, I have had my 4010 for a few years and one thing has been bugging me from the start. You can control how fast the 3PH drops but when you go to raise it is jerks up really fast. With my 60" RFM it will lift the front wheels off the ground when raising it. It gets really annoying when trying to use a box blade or something that needs accurate hight adjustment. I was wondering if there was some way to put a flow restrictor on it or another way to slow it down?

The lift rate is rpm determined. Think that's all. If you want to slow it down, run the rpm back. It'll probably lift your RFM at idle. Mine lifts the LX4 at idle.

You can adjust the "up" by just stabbing it. Just don't move the jack shaft lever all the way to the "up" slot.

The quick "up" is appreciated when doing end-of-row crop work. You want it to come up quick to stab a turning brake and wheel around at the end of a row.

Mike, as Ralph said, it's pretty much engine speed related...Now you know one of the advantages of position control on the 3PH:D

If lifting your RFM is lifting the front tires off the ground, then you need to add weight to the front of your tractor!

On my 790, it depends on how smoothly I move the rockshaft lever. RPM also plays into it.
If I'm going to adjust the height of an implement (especially a PTO driven implement), I reduce RPM to a fast idle (1200-1500 RPM), then move the rockshaft lever. I can always "blip" the foot throttle, if necessary. Also, I disengage the PTO. I do not raise implements if they are rotating.

And go with what Kennyd wrote...if your cutter is raising the front of your tractor, you need more weight up there.

I guess it could be slowed down by lowering the engine speed but I figured there might be a better way. It is just an annoyance and not a really big problem. I guess I will just live with it.

I would add weight to the front but it strains enough with the mower running going up my pretty steep back yard. I have the mower down on the ground 99% of the time anyway. It isn't exactly a powerhouse. :)
