Slower economic growth..tractor sales??

How's all this gloomy news on the economic front going to affect tractor sales? I've heard larger farm tractors are going real cheep if at all. Several AP stroies are talking about "durable goods" and the large inventories at many wholesalers pointing to droping prices/rebates. Some automakers are really pumping-up the rebates right now. What ya'll think?

I heard Kubota planning a 1% increase and I'm sure other will follow.

Until the tractor company really start to feel the pinch like in the mid 80's they probable ride it out.

Cars vs tractors are kinds like comparing apples to oranges,for you hang on to a tractor for many of years,w/ cars 5 to 7 years before trading.

It should be and interesting years for sure,and I hope the blue collar worker doesn't take it on the chin again.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

The speculative bubble in the Nasdaq burst, and a lot of ijit's who were overextended or have never seen a market hiccup have pulled in their horns on consumer purchases. This ripples thru the economy and shows up in capital spending (durable goods) and housing starts very fast. As for real tractor (as opposed to my toy tractor) sales - gotta eat, and people will pay for agricultural products as before.

As someone who HAS seen a few market cycles it's no big deal to me. I just bought a Kubota and will be breaking ground on a new house in Spring, as planned.

Shortly even the skeptics will recall that the stock market is the only decent place for long term investments despite its variations. Confidence will slowly return. Then the cycle repeats.
