Kubota ZD321 zero turn diesel
Good Evening Everyone,
I have a 2007 Kubota D321 zero turn diesel lawn tractor. A few months ago I changed the oil and filter and have used it several times since. This week it was slow to start so I charged the battery, no success. I tried jumping the tractor with jump box, quick charge jump box and even hook jumper cables to the truck to jump it off, NO SUCCESS. Went to the store and purchased a new battery,,,same problem with slow to start. I checked the oil and it showed above the high mark on the dipstick that I found odd so, ok I will loosen the drain plug and drop the level in the oil pan to get it to the correct level on the dipstick. Well very little oil came out of the oil pan but I'm showing too much oil on the dipstick. What the hell??? If I have no oil in the pan, how can I have a high level on the dipstick? Where is the oil??? I've been having this machine since new in 07 and change all my fluids myself and NEVER have I had an instance like this. Can anyone give me a heads up on what's going on or is my mower just dead?? Thanks

I believe the zero turn is hydrostatic. That means there are at least two dipsticks. I don't mean to be insulting but is it possible you may have checked the wrong dipstick? I just can't imagine oil showing on the stick and then nothing in the pan. Unless there is residual oil in the dipstick tube and is thereby showing a false reading.

Tracking down the oil issue should be a much higher priority than the slow start. The owner's manual may shed some light on that one. As far as the slow start goes, be sure your cable ends are clean and tight on the battery terminals, the same goes for where the ground attaches to the frame. Then check your glow plugs to see if any (or all) have failed.

I hope you didn't drain the engine oil and put the engine oil in the hydraulic fill port... you should have had a low oil pressure light on the dash if that was the case. How many hours since the oil change.
