i have a d-series 5600 that just developed a problem with the aux hydro system. at normal operating speed the system suddenly does not have enough power to open a 62 inch combo bucket unless tilted all the way forward. likewise, speed on our auger is slower. the hi flow aux system seems to work fine and all other hydro components work fine (tilt, lift, bed, etc.) if anyone has an idea of what the problem could be, please let me know.

interesting.

am i safe to assume that the 4 in 1 was working previously?

and that normal operating speed meens something more than idle?

it sort of sounds like you are not getting much pressure out - do you have any other attachments to test flow and thus confirm whether its a machine problem or a bucket problem.

some cylinders get upset with hiflo usage so i understand - someone mentioned to me the other day that the older style profiling mills developed problems with their sideshift due to hiflo tho its been since rectified.

however i'm all ears to see where this goes.

the combo bucket worked fine all summer and fall.

normal operating speed is around 1700rpm

tested aux hydro on auger and it also runs slow compared to how it ran when we drilled 30 post holes this fall.

we don't use the hi flow for anything right now. i merely engaged to test if that circuit is working and it is. my understanding is that hi flow is completely seperate from the aux system.

my guess is that for some reason charge pressure on the aux system is too low suddenly due to problems with aux control or relief valve.

Just a thought...

When you say "aux hydraulics" I'm assuming that you are referencing the the hydraulic connections at the boom, and not the rear PTO? I might suggest you have a pressure/flow test via your dealer. You might also remove the hydraulic filter (large one under the bed near the rear axle, not by the battery) and dump the contents into something that will allow you to see if there are any metal flakes in the fluid. With my TC's that had suffered from the "drive motor" issue, the performance decline was over a period of time and was not noticable until the filters started plugging and the warning light came on. After the drive motor replacement, the drivers wanted to know what the dealer had done to make it run so much better/faster...

You also mentioned that your TC is running at 1700 rpms? If memory serves me, my TC's (at full throttle) run at 2850 rpms. If you are only able to get 1700 rpms out of your TC that may be a clue.

Last night I was thinking about your original post, and the comment about the RPMs being at 1700. Another thought would be to check for water in the fuel. I have experienced less than optimal performance and reduced RPMs from water in the fuel. I'm not sure about the D series, but on my TC's the fuel filter is directly under the TC about the middle of the rear window. It is protected by a skid plate that has a round hole. You can pull the skid plate but it is not necessary. You should be able to see the filter and a small drain at the bottom of the filter. Open the drain and see if you get water out of it. I will caution you not to leave the drain open too long. If you do, you will have to pull the passenger seat to get access to the "hand bulb" to pump any air out of the fuel lines or it won't start. It's a major PIA to get it started again. Please post your findings.

finally got the tc to a dealer in vegas. the problem appears to with the pilot valve. they have been trouble shooting and testing for three days so far but cannot isolate it. bobcat says that they have never seen a problem like this with a toolcat. not sure if that's good news...

will post more when i have details
