Dealer had Woods and Nardi, Woods was sold ended up with Nardi,it is on 39hp Farm Trac, the question being the backhoe has it's own pump that goes to PTO it seemed earlier in the day to have alot of power then I had to transport it on trailer it sits very low so I raised it up a tad on the 3 point , I think that is when I noticed the backhoe get very slow, it is full of fluid , no air in lines, filter ok, can this make a difference, dealer told me to have the 3 Pt all the way down when operating and just level up the hoe with the stabilizers, any help would be appreciated. If this is the cause why does it happen if the hoe has it's own pump. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Ron,

No pinched line, the 3 point in up position is not the problem?

OK, let's start over...

If the tractor engine is able to turn the PTO shaft, then forget the tractor. It is doing its job.

So the problem must be the pump or something else.

If the pump is not the problem, then what might it be?

Where is the filter in the flow circuit? You say the filter is OK...how do you know this? Just wondering...

There must be a pressure relief valve somewhere in the backhoe system. Where is it? Could it be tripping before it should?

So...as a start...is the pump bad? Is the pumb being starved for fluid, so it cannot pump as it should and as it wants to? Is the pressure relief valve in a failed state? And thereby opening so that it passes fluid back to the tank at lower pressure that it should?

So many questions...I know...

You need to start somewhere to eliminate the problem. Filters are easy to change. I would change the filter first probably. How good is your hearing? Can you hear any strange sounds that might indicate a PRV malfunction?

I think the bottom line is that a PTO pump backhoe is not that complex. The pump pumps, the control valves divert, and the PRV sends fluid back to the tank when called upon to do so.

Try something, like the filter change and report back. Maybe someone who really knows will help when more info is presented!

Good luck and hope you find the solution to the problem without too much pain...sometimes the simple things take time and at other times the difficult things are solved quickly, due to luck if for no other reason...
