In the winter I wear workboots or snow boots when I work on my farm. Once it gets warm, I wear slip on rubber boots that I get at TSC for about $20, I forget the brand, but they hold up pretty well, and give pretty good traction and are comfortable. A real bargin for $20.

But once it gets hot, the rubber boots are too hot, and I usually wear Muck Shoes, made by Muck Boots. I also get them at TSC, but they're about $70 and don't hold up so well. The soles are VERY thin, you can feel every rock you step on. Other than that, they are comfortable, but don't give particularly good traction. And I wear holes in the thin soles after one summer's use.

I'd love to find another slip-on waterproof farm shoe. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!!!

Roper style boots? If you can't find some already waterproofed that's easy to do with any of several products. Not quit as easy on and off as muck shoes but not laces to deal with and protect your feet well.

There are stronger muck boot slip ons- the ones made for pets are probably the toughest and then the camping shoe is also tougher than the standard. I have the camping shoe and don't feel the gravel when out and about. Check online for a source- they are spendy but very comfortable.

Good Mornin Rich,
These are not slip ons, but I like those rubber soled boots sold by Beans, rubber lower section and leather uppers. They are great durring the summer when lots of dew on the grasses etc ! Although thats probably not what your lookin for !

Have you gotten any hay from Neil ? He had a terrible time harvesting this year, way too much rain ! :(

Just get a proper pair of work boots and dedicate them to muck.:D

My dedicated ones.

I wear the Beaner boots like what Scott suggested. I cannot think of a better boot for all round use. I have 4 pairs with various heights and that's about all I wear anymore when outside doing stuff. You can also send them back and have them resoled when you wear the bottoms out. They come in narrow, (my feet are narrow and hard to fit), and wide widths. They have one that is a pull on with zip front.

Hi Scott,

About the best boots to wear. I use SnoSeal to keep the uppers waterproofed. They are quiet in the woods, (for hunting), and fairly light. I have been a Beaner convert for about 30 years...

Thanks for all the suggestions. My farm is a goat dairy, and we also raise fiber sheep. I really need slip ons, that I can put on fast when I go outside. It's pretty common for me to hear a goat or sheep yelling like they're being killed, and I have to investigate fast (Usually it's just an animal wanting attention, but you never know.). When I'm in the house, the first thing I do is take off my shoes. I always have, I hate wearing shoes in the house. So tie boots are always my last choice. In the winter, fall and spring I wear slip on boots, but in this weahter, they're just too hot.

I didn't know that Muck Shoes come in different styles. There is a hiking Muck Shoe that was suggested earlier that looks really good on the Muck Boot website. The only problem is it's almost $100. But I may spring for it, and hope it lasts much longer than the cheaper muck shoes that TSC carries.
