Can anyone show me a plan for building a frame for a metal clad sliding barn door? Door will be 12ft wide by 10.5ft high

Typically the doors are made from a frame of 2 x 4 or 2 x 6 material lying on edge so that they are thinner. Metal plates are used at the joints to hold the pieces together, then wrap the topedge (to protect it from the weather) and cover the outside with tin.

build it out of square tubing. it won't sag and will be lighter. make a rectangle and 2 pieces cross ways

When I made my barn doors, I used 1"x1.5" aluminum tube for the verticals (one on each side) and 2x4 doug fir lumber for the horizontal pieces across (spaced the same as the wall girts). I just didn't trust a long 10' piece of lumber for verticals to stay straight. SO far the aluminum has worked very well.

Here's a pic of the two door frames hanging in the track and aligned up, right before I attached the siding. You can see the aluminum tube verticals if you look close.

Some years ago I was entrusted to build a large horse stable and riding arena.
Plans called for 5 sets of doors. (10 panels in all)
I went to my truss manufacturer and had him make me 12ea 6' X 12' 'square' trusses with tops and bottoms* from 2 x 6 stock and sides from 2 x 3.
Also a diagonal from 2 X 2 for bracing.
We paneled outside with same metal siding as walls and inner with 1/4" ply.
Before closing up the panels we trimmed 2" foam board to add insulation.

All joints were made using truss plates making those joints extra rugged.
All the edges were capped with a 2 x 2 'U' channel that were shaped with an aluminum siding brake for a nice finished look.

While I forget the unit cost I do recall that it was less than my purchasing the lumber alone and not including any labor.
The plus was that they were all exactly the same and as rugged as can be.
Added bonus was they used only 1st grade KD wood.

*2 X 6 was to accept mounting hardware.

Two doors on top of each other so in theory they come out the same

I couldn't find no plans so me and my son just winged it, aprox. 5' x 10'. The only thing I would of done different is the two outside boards should of went the whole length of the door for more strength.

The boards are tongue&grooved, they've been on 2 years now, this past fall I weather stripped them and that was a puzzle in it self, not to mention the home made jingle jangle door locking apparatuses.
