Setting here by the dining room window, I can count 5(!!!!) juvenile skunks milling about. Looks like they just left their litter.
A company is putting in a pipeline along a powerline right-of-way a hundred yards away, so I'm guessing their habitat has been disturbed.
Lived here 10 years...an occasional skunk would wander about, but I've never seen 5 at one time!!

Their good at keeping the grub's cleaned up in your yard, also their good at making nice little plug holes, you wouldn't have to buy one. :)

Oh -boy. I wouldn't be letting the dog out until I had a good supply of Hydrogen Peroxide and baking soda.

I had a friend that used to trap skunks when we were kids. He always said if you didn't let them raise thier tail they couldn't spray. One day the owner of the store called and said, "there is a skunk in the store. Come get it out". We went over. My friend grabbed the skuck by the tail and started swinging it around his head to keep his tail straight and his teeth away from his hand. The skunk sprayed all over us and the store. We never got any free cookies after that.

Roy, if you try "grabbing" one , make sure you have someone taking photos and maybe some audio too. I will have to make pop corn to what that one:laughing:

This is skunk season for us. We have about 7 acres of yard and the skunks are digging up the rabbit nests and eating the baby rabbits. I see a couple of skunks every night in the yard. If baby skunks are about they will be back the next year. The baby skunks go back to the place of their birth and start over.

I've got a .22 revolver at the ready. First one of these critters (of this litter) I saw was a couple days back and I did fire two rounds to chase it off. Reckon it didn't help since he brought his litter mates back with him, yesterday.
So, if I've got to shoot them, I will...but I hope they just move on...

Roy, I think skunks on the prowl is just a normal springtime event here. In April/May, we see a lot of them dead on the roads and highways. This time of year, you are more likely to see a deer, coyote, or domestic pet being the victim. All I'm saying is that your skunks will probably not do too much damage and then will move on. If you surprise them or have animals that threaten them, then they will spray, but otherwise, they are pretty harmless unless you have laying chickens. They do love to raid the henhouse.

We have a very sneaky Mr. Stinky hanging around our place, he got 3 of my dogs this year and got my neighbors dog Saturday night, we got the MSV (mobile assault vehicle) AKA Rhino with my son in the bed over looking the cab we drove around our place with an AR-15, never did see him but we had fun doing it. Next weeks it's claymores and maybe a bazooka. Since we live in the sticks my neighbors won't mind rather large holes in there yards.

That's what I'm hoping...I really don't want to kill any of 'em...
