For my next amazing(ly stupid) question:

Does anyone make an adapter to put a skidsteer backhoe on to either a 3pt hitch or a full rearset subframe?

I have available at a "reasonable" price a Bobcat 607 and I am curious if I can get a subframe to mount it.

What I am wondering aside from the availability of a mount kit if the tractor will have suitable hydraulic flow and pressure, but that's step #2 for the moment. If I can't mount it, flow doesn't too much matter!

The tractor in question happens to be a 4720. And yes, I know that the CORRECT answer is to just get a Woods/Bradco/whatever, but I am trying to work with what's available!

Thanks! (I did some searching but didn't find the answer in question)

I've looked at several different SS backhoe attachments - Bobcat and Deere. The 4 point mounting system for them is very, very heavy duty.

The materials used/needed are way beyond the structural compare for a 4000 series machine.

And the downriggers suck! That's one of the major complaints regarding the Bobcat hoe - lack of manuverability and clearance. You can get "highcentered" on an ant hill and the downriggers cannot deal with uneven terrain.

I fully appreciate "creative thinking" and adaptability... but I sincerely believe you're chasing "smoke" by attempting to utilize a construction level hoe attachment on a compact utility tractor. It's bad math; and you'll likely end up spending more time and money in the end.

Most 3rd party backhoes are built to accept mounting kits intended for SSL mount, tractor 3pt mount and tractor subframe mount. It is posible that your Bobcat hoe is a rebranded Bradco, Rhino, or whatever. Identifying the builder of the hoe and researching alternative mountings may be worthwhile. I expect your 4720 to have acceptable pressure and flow for a backhoe.

Thanks again AK (and Rick);

I have to say I wasn't wildly impressed with the mounting points for the 607. It looked line nothing fancier than a standard skidsteer mounts (only extra heavy plate) and the top two mounting horns which are clearly critical.

I agree in that I wasn't impressed with the down riggers but I AM madly in love with the ability of the digger itself to move left/right on the frame of the hoe. I love that!

In the event that you find yourself curious: What I really need/want is a 110. But finding one through a dealer for a reasonable price is VERY difficult. The reason I need to dealer swap is I'd have to get rid of my 4720. Which, frankly, I am impossibly disappointed with. And I don't care, at this point, to buy a private 110 and then sell my 4720.

A private sale (traditional pin on) backhoe is likely in my future, but the Bobcat 607 is 1/4 mile down the road, and as I mentioned, for a decent price. Regular frame on hoes are a little harder to come by. The strength of the 607 made me smile too. ;)
