At last years power show ohio I came across a tree saw attachment for clearing small trees that attached to a skidsteer type mounting bracket. It was similar to the one in the attached picture with the addition of a thumb type grapple that allowed you to carry the downed trees to a pile using the remote hyd. on the loader to operate the grapple. I have a 5 acre parcel to clear in florida that is owned by a family member, that if this works, would be an ideal way to clear the scrub trees off the property. It works by moving the loader or skid steer back and forth to saw down the tree. It cuts at ground level so no stumps are sticking up to deal with later. Anyone ever used one ??? Are they very expensive ?? Who makes them ?? Anxious Fla relatives await my reply..........Thanks............TOM

Tom,
Landpride make one like that. Here is the page. Landpride TreeLiminator
I don't know how they work, but have thought about them and also tree shears. I may build a tree shear next summer.

We sell the skid steer tree sheers at the dealer and they are really easy to connect to the machine. I have never used one but looks like it might come in handy.

That looks like and old rome blade for a D7 thru D9. They were caled stinger blads and a few with a one sided angle was called a KG blade. The stinger blade is pushed into the tree then it bustes it from the center and the tapers sides chew it in half. They also were used to get on wone side of the tree and push against it sawing it in half. I figure that what that one was for on the Skid steer.

I'm not sure why we're reviving a thread from 2004? But as long as we're doing it... I've seen one of these guys in action:

Skid Steer Hydra-Clip Tree Shear

And it's nothing but amazing to watch. Plucks large tress like they're a backyard garden crop. Of course the price is unfortunately astounding as well.

If I had the need (and the money) I'd buy one of these in a heartbeat.
