DOES ANYONE HAVE A CID SKID STEER BRUSH CUTTER AND WHAT ARE YOUR OPNIONS OF IT? IM LOOKING TO PUT IT ON MY KUBOTA SVL95-2S AND CLEAR A SMALL PASTURE I JUST ACREWED THAT HAS BEEN GROWN UP FOR ALMOST 5 YEARS. ANY OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS ON BRUSH CUTTERS?

1) Please turn off the "caps lock" key.

2) Are you looking to buy a brush cutter for just one project? It's probably going to be an $8000+ purchase. You could probably find a construction rental place to rent one (whatever model they happen to have) for a small fraction of the cost.

sorry about the caps lock, im used to it for work, and no i have about 100 acres that was going to be a neighborhood before foreclosure ive purchased as well, so its grown up about like the pasture just a bit more and i have some buddies that have offered to pay me to take care of their properties so it would be well used.

ive looked into the bradcos as well but wasnt sure if they would hold up when comparing.

Just had a couple acres cleared with a BH mounted on a 65 HP. skid steer;did it work(yes) but left a lot of duffel, scrapnel and I spent three weeks cleaning up.Now this was very heavy brush and small trees and a work out for his machine for sure.
Phase two;I hired a 90HP skid steer with a FECON head; a lot less debris but still some. Both machines saw some damage, blades on the first one, teeth on the second.I have locks of above ground rocks.

OK, makes more sense now. No personal experience with those. I can see the utility of those for actual land clearing, but the idea of going around 100+ acres in a compact trackloader doing mowing... makes me think of the joy of low crawling for miles, or painting 50 miles of fence by hand, etc. It may still be the right implement for the job.

I am currently renovating 25 acres of former pasture that was allowed to go to weeds and brush. I'm mowing anything I can with a tractor mounted flail, and will be hitting the larger stuff with a chainsaw once the leaves fall off. Not a fast approach either, just a comment for comparison.

WELL ITS WHAT IVE GOT, I DONT WANT TO BUY A TRACTOR FOR IT AND I CAN USE IT TO MAKE MONEY, I TALKED WITH CID AND THEY MAKE AN OPTION WITH MULCHING TEETH. I THINK I WOULD LIKE TO DEMO ONE BEFORE HAND BUT I DONT LIKE USING OTHER PEOPLES EQUIPMENT BECAUSE IF ITS MINE ITS ALOT EASIER TO SIGH WHEN SOMETHING GETS MESSED UP AND FIX IT AS I CAN THEN TAKE AND SAY HEY I NEED ABOUT 3 MONTHS TO AFFORD TO GET YOU A NEW ONE.

A hydraulic rotary cutter is going to be at least double the cost of a 3pt PTO one. The PTO one will be a lot more efficient at putting that power to the brush as well. But if a skid steer is all you have, it's what you have.

In tractor land a 6' rotary cutter rated to 2" material is $2,500. Probably need 40hp minimum for that. Bumping up to something rated for 3h4x will more than double the price and increase the HP requirements to 60-100hp or so.

ANY OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS ON BRUSH CUTTERS?

I like this design, the Bobcat Brushcat. No gearboxes:

This 7 foot brush hog was delivered 10-1-2010, so we have been using it for going on 7 years now.

Works well on uneven ground, with the pivot SSQA mount and front wheel carrying half of the weight.

I bought a blue diamond brush cutter for my skid steer last month. It is their heaviest one and rated to take down 10” trees. The spinning blade carrier weighs 500 lbs. I have not had a chance to use it yet but it seems really well made
