Skid Steer attachments

Has anyone had a positive experience with any online sources for skid steer attachments? My Cub has a FEL with a quick attach bucket that lets me use many skid steer attachments. I may buy the mounting plate and make a few of my own, but I'd like to see what is available. Thanks.

Watch out for weight - skidsteers have pretty high lift capacities and many of the skidsteer attachments are pretty heavy.

For attachments that use hydraulics, the required gpm is usually significantly higher than what the typical compact tractor provides.

There have been theoretical concerns of stressing the FEL arms when using attachments that may generate asymmetrical forces, as opposed to a plain bucket that is usually symmetrical.

Concur with The Doc, but any reputable dealer will tell you what hydraulic capacity and weight limitations apply. And The Doc will appreciate this, get more than one dealers/sources opinion. We do this all the time in modifying attachments from one manufacturer to an others.
For equipment with lower GPM, if the tractor has a PTO, one can add an add. 20 Gallon Hydraulic tank and mount a pump directly to the PTO. You can gain up to 21 GPM max, depending on your tractors capabilities. The modification is not too cheap. I priced one out (incl. labor around $2200.00)
I am in the process of adapting the old skidsteer, a 1835B Case to the universal adapter. Case HQ gave me very detailed information, and pointed out which of their own, more modern attachment could be used with the old machine that has only 400 hrs on the hour meter.
We also have converted Power Trac equipment Power Trac for use with Schwartz FEL mounted on a Kubota L2050. Another conversion was a lackender backhoe Lackender mounted on a Power Trac 425 model.

I have several attachments that meet the skid steer standard for mechanical hook up and they work well for me. The Hy-Reach Tree Shear has a litttle longer cycle time but works well. I recommend having the quick attach option on your FEL. Go to www.markhamwelding.com for many attachments. I recommend them for quality, price and service.

I have this one. It works very well. Easier to attach than the 3 pt type and can be set at any height. I run it off the FEL hydraulics. Cost: $625.

Thanks, all for the input. I am aware that most CUTs don't have the hyd. pump capacity for many of the attachments. Actually, my first priority is a snow blade. I'd be happy with a manual swing. Next would be a rock rake. So neither require hydraulics. I'm also interested in the tree shear.

I've made my own quick attach implements. I wouldn't drop the money they want to the plates. If you can weld up your attachment surely you can weld up the plate. It isn't rocket science. It's rock it science, much simpler.

All you have to do is look at your loader bucket. Transfer those measurements and brackets to a sheet of quarter inch steel and you have your plate.

It's nothing but a thing.

Thanks, Harv. I've never welded, but my FIL has been a union welder for 30 years. He's retired now (and fighting the big C /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif ) but he works about 40 hours a week doing repair for contractors and farmers. He's promised to teach me, but we're 2.5 hours apart. But I will definitely try your suggestion.

BTW, I saw your bow tie gate and rock work today. Outstanding!!! It's all about quality of execution.... no matter what your job is.
