I'm looking at buying a grapple and the description says it is for a skid steer. That is the same as saying it has a SSQA type attachment setup - right? And, nothing in that wording would make you think it wouldn't fit my tractor - right?

It depends on your front end loader. Not all tractors have a SSQA system as a standard. My Kubota M6800 did not, so I had to buy an adapter to make it work. I believe most newer tractors are becoming standardized but you need to research your tractors FEL to be sure.

Yes. As the grapple was built for a Skid Steer then it will fit a SSQA... even if you have a John Deere Skid Steer.

Maybe it's just me but SSQA is Skid Steer Quick Attach. There may be other styles from other makers compatible at either the machine or implement end.

The actual mounting is the same, the construction is likely to be much heavier for an actual SS built attachment where generally the rated load capacity even on the smaller skid steers starts at 1500 pounds where a small tractor with a ssqa may only be half of that.
Short answer; yes, but you'll be "eating up" your load carrying capacity with an overbuilt grapple designed for a much more robust machine.

Thanks all. Yes, my tractor is SSQA. Yes, the grapple is heavier than some but only by about 200 lbs more than a lightweight EA grapple. This one is unused at an auction. If I get it for a low price I'll be happy to sacrifice the 200 lbs. Just wanted to make sure of my attachment assumptions since SSQA wasn't mentioned in the description

Good assumption, but best to do a visual check if possible.

SSQA is probably the most universal quick attach available but unfortunately it is a very poor design IMO.

It’s a couple of steps better than NO quick attach. I sold this SSQA machine recently and don’t miss it.

Well, the grapple went for more than I was willing to pay. Did get a $150 lawn tractor though!

Wow, even if the lawn tractor doesn't run, you probably did ok for $150, lol.

And yes, SSQA is the same as skid steer attachment.
